Question 100

THE THIRD PART OF MANS THANKFVLNES

  1. Is it then so grieuous a sinne by swearing or banning, to take the name of God in vaine: as that God is also angrie with them, who, as much as in them lieth, doe not forbid or hinder it?

Surely most grieuous. For neither is there any sinne greater, or more offending God, than the dispiting of his sacred name. Wherefore also hee would haue this sinne to bee punished with death.
